January 1988 Winter Warrior
Winter Warrior in January 1988 was my opportunity to drive a Bradley for once. When I was at Fort Knox I taught mechanics and officers how to maintain and drive a Bradley but my first year in Germany I didn't get a drivers slot. With the Death of Brad Fraser in August of 87 I was transitioning from dismount scout to gunner based on my rank. In December of 1987 I went before the E05 board and was thus being prepared for a leadership position.
Winter Warrior was a field exercise for command elements to practice their trade. As such I drove for our platoon sergeant (Danny Pollit) and Sgt. Duane Myers (gunner).
