Week 1

When I left for Basic Training (2 days after graduating High School) I knew it was going to be something I would never forget, but just in case I labored to make a detailed diary of my experience.  Unfortunately I somehow have lost the details to week 1.  What I do remember is that it was brutal.  After a few days at reception station were they couldn't "drill" you I arrived at my "Basic Training" Troop on June 15th.  Before moving over to that troop, one of our last items in reception station that morning was to get a bunch of inoculations.  Upon arrival at Disney Barracks we were made to run around the building a few times because of course we weren't running fast enough.  Well the shots they gave us that morning had us (at least me) very weak and I soon passed out standing in formation.  There were quite a few of us passing out and as soon as the Drills learned we had received inoculations that morning we got a break.... we ended up learning how to wax and buff the floors of the Troop HQ until the wee hours of the morning.  The rest of that week I believe wake up was at 3:30am and we typically had lights out around 11pm.
